Our Eco-Certification

If you see an FSC stamp on any wood that you buy, you know that wood has been harvested according to rigorous, ecologically based guidelines.

We have chosen to be certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an international organization that has been implementing eco-certification standards in Canada and around the world since 1999.

Why the FSC Was Chosen

We considered several options before choosing a certifier. The Canadian Standards Association (CSA), the International Standards Organization (ISO) and the FSC were assessed to see which would be the most appropriate and effective.

Both the CSA and ISO were ruled out because they focus on management systems rather than on the ground operations.

The FSC not only has a strong focus on actual forest practices, but also requires adherence to strong social, aboriginal, and environmental principles. The FSC is the only certifier that is supported by a broad range of environmental groups.
