Protection Society The Harrop-Procter Watershed Protection Society was incorporated in 1995 and its main focus is advocacy and outreach. It is the parent organization of the Harrop-Procter Community Co-op. Any resident of Harrop-Procter may buy a membership
for a nominal fee and Directors are elected at the AGM each year.
More than 70 per cent of Harrop-Procter residents belong to the
HPWPS.
The Harrop-Procter Community Cooperative was incorporated in 1996 to provide a structure for carrying out business activities in the watershed. The co-op grew to 60 members in its first year of operation. Today, its membership has grown to 98. The co-operative governs with committees comprised of directors and interested community members. It retains a general manager, a forest manager, a woodlands operation manager, administrative support and sales personel. Volunteers are still a large factor in the success of the project and they contribute on average 200 hours monthly.
